Hat Superstitions
You're probably going to think I'm crazy. I probably am.
Right now, I am going to take full responsibility for game 7 of the 2003 ALCS.
All throughout the 2003 season, when the Sox would hit a dive, I'd put on my "lucky Remdawg hat." Right before Grady decided to leave Pedro in in game 7, I took it off to try on a cowboy hat (remember "Cowboy Up?").
My fault.
In 2004, when the Sox were in a slide, I started wearing a Chicago Cubs hat. I didn't stop wearing the old Cooperstown collection hat until after the final pitch of game four of the world series. Many people questioned my dedication to the Sox...but that Chicago cap stayed on my head.
2007: After attending part of a Phillies/Mets series this June in Philly, I bought myself a Philles franchise cap. When the Sox were behind during a few late summer/early fall games, I put on the Phils hat, and they came back. When I traveled to Minneapolis, I bought a Twins cap, breaking my cardinal rule of NEVER wearing another AL team's hat...the Sox lost four in a row. After attending ALDS Gm.1, I decided to wear my division hat. Bad choice. I found the Phillies hat yesterday right before the game. They won.
So don't question my dedication if you see me at Fenway next season with some crazy NL team hat on.
I probably don't have thaaat much influence...I'm just sayin'.
